Festo Didactic, a German equipment and solution provider for industrial education and subsidiary of Festo AG, plans to establish a learning center
at Central Piedmont Community College's campus in midtown Charlotte.
The "Festo-CPCC Learning Center of Excellence" would grant CPCC students
and workers access to new Festo advanced-manufacturing machinery, equipment and programs.
The learning center is part of a $ 23.5 million training facility
project which is expected to be completed by fall 2017, with some parts
of the training facility already being operational by beginning of 2015.
For CPCC's endeavor to enhance advanced-manufacturing training, Siemens Corp. recently granted a $ 32 million technology donation
to the community college. The donation comes in form of the Siemens PLM
(product life-cycle management) software, which aims to optimize
manufacturing processes.
